The map of the top 50 mobile speed camera locations is based on the top 10 mobile speed camera locations for each quarter from QTR-1 2019 to QTR-3 2024, that is results for 15 quarters. |

Now in the name of full transparency, some of you may see the flaw in my logic. Yes, I took the 15 quarters of the top 10 mobile speed locations, totalled the fines and produced this map. To be truly accurate I'd need all the fines for every location for the entire period. It's possible a camera location not in the top 10 for a quarter, but just outside, totalled more fines over the 15 quarters but did not appear in any quarter's list. It's probably not likely, but it could happen. But I don't have that data, so I can only work with the data the Victorian government makes available and at least these results show us an approximation of the top 50 mobile speed camera locations. So to make things clear, each quarter the top 10 mobile speed camera locations and the number of fines issued is provided. I then took the results for the 15 quarters (15 quarters by 10 for the top 10 giving 150 locations), totalled the fines for the locations and the result was, there were 50 unique locations. The Victorian government publishes a list of over 2,000 mobile speed camera locations, but each quarter just 10 of those locations make the top 10, and represent about 10% of the fines for the quarter. These locations therefore are locations as a driver, it is important to know there's a higher risk of being fined. There's something about these locations that means people get fined more often.
